Quid

For the software engineers and information analysts at Quid’s San Francisco headquarters, the prevailing aesthetic is Stanley Kubrick meets Isaac Newton meets John Le Carre. Inspired by the founders’ Oxford education, we created a concept that emphasized innovative materials with a slightly British bent and designed graphics that spoke to the interconnectivity of data in all its forms.
The library features trompe l’oeil book wallpaper and vintage wingback chairs upholstered in Oxford bus signs. The “Meat Locker” features vinyl welding strips as a divider, mid-century modern furniture and gold David Hicks wallpaper fit for a Bond film. Our environmental branding, based on Quid’s infographics serves as wayfinding through the circuitous entrance of the space, snaking through the corridors to reception.
Featured in the October 2011 issue of Architectural Record, the Quid office demonstrates how big effects may be achieved in small spaces – the artful coordination of spatial relationships can turn structural limitations into design assets and careful consideration for graphics, furniture, lighting and finishes can turn simple spaces into dramatic design.
