While our website was down and its parts scattered all over the floor for reconstruction… news continued to break.  Here’s a brief update of what was going on:

 Owls in the Window

The whole office got into the act for our first participation in IIDA’s annual Windows project.  Every year local designers decorate empty storefronts in the downtown area and hold a kick-off party to benefit good causes.  Inspiration for this year’s windows came from drawings produced by children at Raphael House, a local shelter for homeless families.

Our window at 979 Market sprang from this drawing titled ” Family Sitting Under a Rainbow.”

For two weeks principals, design directors, designers, carpet reps and assorted friends pitched in to slice up carpet for rainbow beams, build the frame into which the rainbow and our family of owls would fit and otherwise prep the window that debuted last Thursday night.

A special thanks to Olivia Ward who joined our staff just before the project started and became our chief ornithologist, lovingly assembling each owl, feather-by-custom-tailored-feather.  (She also builds rainbows).

Coverage of this event has already appeared in The Huffington Post and Art Enthusiast.  The Windows will be up through April so drop by and use your phone to vote for your favorite– especially all you birders!
